Mobile Mammography

Welcome to The Big Pink Bus

Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus provides early breast cancer detection services to women throughout Central Texas. The Big Pink Bus offers low-cost 3-D digital screening mammography to most women, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Early detection of breast cancer is key to survival. When breast cancer is caught early, a woman’s 5-year survival rate is over 90%. If you are a woman aged 40 and older, talk to your health care provider about regular screening mammography.

Who Can Be Screened

You can get a screening mammogram on the Big Pink Bus if you:

  • Are age 40 and older
  • Are uninsured, or have coverage from MAP, MAP Basic, or select commercial insurance
  • Have not had a mammogram in the last 365 days
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are not experiencing breast issues such as lumps, discharge, or pain
  • Can independently walk up and down stairs

Mobile mammography is not right for everyone. You may need a different type of mammogram if you are experiencing breast discharge, pain, or a lump. Please talk to your health care provider if you have these symptoms.

If you don’t have health insurance, Lone Star Circle of Care can find out if you are eligible for our sliding fee scale or programs that will pay for your screening mammogram on the Big Pink Bus.
